Ambrosi Wins 800 Meters as Greyhounds Tie for 11th at ECAC Indoor Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. --- Senior Steve Ambrosi won the 800-meter run to lead the Moravian College men's indoor track & field team to a tie for 11th place of 62 teams on the second day of the 2012 ECAC Division III Indoor Championships hosted by Rutgers-Newark at the New York City Armory Saturday.

The Greyhounds finished with 20 points, which tied them with City College of New York, while Bates College won the championship with 69 points. Tufts University was the runner-up with 48 points.

Ambrosi won the 800-meter run in a time of 1:52.57, which is the second fastest time in school history.  Ambrosi's time came on a banked track and converts to 1:53.17 on the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) list, which is tied for 11th.  The top 13 males in each event will compete in the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Grinnell (Iowa) College on March 9th & 10th.  Those fields will be finalized on Monday.

Senior Nicco Dalpiaz also earned a point for Moravian on Saturday as he finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.57 seconds.

Senior Matthew Lutcza completed his indoor career with a 17th place finish in the mile run with a time of 4:20.78, which is the sixth fastest time in school history.  Freshman Dillon Farrell was one spot back at 4:21.16, the eighth best time in the school record book, while junior Donald Noble placed 22nd at 4:24.69.

Moravian's final competitor on the second day of the meet was sophomore Kristopher Joint, who placed 11th in the long jump with a leap of 6.76 meters (22 feet, 2 1/4 inches).
