Greyhounds Finish 7th at Mountain Hawk Multi & Invitational

Moravian returned to action after six weeks off by placing seventh of 13 teams at the Mountain Hawk Multi & Invitational hosted by Lehigh University. The Greyhounds had 34 points and were the top team among the four NCAA Division III schools in the meet. Lehigh captured first place overall with 202 points while Kutztown University was second with 127 points.

The Greyhounds had one individual champion and three ECAC Division III qualifiers. Senior Timothy Layng captured the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.60 meters (15 feet, one inches), which also ranks 11th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TRFFS) list to compete at the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships. Layng also has the tenth ranked heighth on the list.

Junior Travis King was the runner-up in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 13.92 meters (45 meters, eight inches), a distance that is 17th in the nation on the latest TFRRS list, while sophomore Kristopher Joint was fourth in the triple jump at 13.73 meters (45 meters, 1/2 inch), an ECAC qualifying distance and 25th on the TFRRS list. Senior Nicco Dalpiaz placed sixth in the triple jump at 12.68 meters (41 feet, 7 1/4 inches) while freshman Chris Ossont finished eighth at 12.27 meters (40 feet, 3 1/2 inches).

Joint tied for tenth in the long jump at 6.35 meters (20 feet, ten inches) while junior Jonathan Heberling took eighth in the long jump at 6.47 meters (21 feet, 3 1/4 inches).

On the track, freshman Dillon Farrell was eighth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:02.23 while senior Matthew Lutcza was ninth in 2:02.49. Farrell and Lutcza teammed up with junior Donnie Noble and freshman Alec Duncan to place fifth in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 8:29.32. Senior Steve Ambrosi was ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.37 seconds.
