Layng & Farrell Named Conference Track & Field Athletes of the Week

MADISON, N.J. – Senior Timothy Layng and freshman Dillon Farrell of the Moravian College men's track & field team were named Landmark Conference Track & Field Athletes of the Week.

Layng was named the field athlete of the week after a strong effort at the Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton. He won the pole vault at the meet, breaking the school and Landmark record he established two weeks ago. Layng finished ahead of a field of Division I competitors by clearing 4.95 meters (16 feet, 2 ¾ inches), breaking the previous mark of 4.91 meters (16 feet, 1 ¼ inch).

Farrell was named the track athlete of the week after setting a new school record for the Greyhounds at the Sam Howell Invitational. He set a new school mark of 31:12.63 at the 10,000-meter run and what was also an ECAC qualifying mark. Farrell placed tenth in his heat and 31st of 52 runners in the race in a field of predominantly Division I competitors.

Track & Field returns to action this Friday and Saturday, April 13-14 as they host the Coach P Open.
