Dalpiaz Finishes as Runner-Up at Lynchburg Mutli-Event

LYNCHBURG, Va. --- Senior Nicco Dalpiaz of the Moravian College men's outdoor track & field team finished second in the decathlon at the Lynchburg College Open Multi-Event after the final day of competition Tuesday.

Dalpiaz, who was competing in the event for the second time in his career, scored a total of 6,317 points in the two-day, ten event decathlon. He had 3,082 points on the second day of competition, and improved his standing on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list to 13th in the event. The top 20 men on th TFRRS list will compete at the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships May 24-26.

On Tuesday, Dalpiaz scored 804 points in the 110-meter high hurdles in a time of 15.38 seconds to start the day. He then picked up 452 points with a throw of 29.37 meters (96 feet, 4 1/4 inches) in the discus. Dalpiaz tied for the top height in the pole vault at 4.56 meters (14 feet, 11 1/2 inches) to pick up 778 points, and he added another 409 points with a toss of 37.74 meters (123 feet, 9 3/4 inches) in the javelin. Dalpiaz finished the meet with a season-best time of 4:46.65 in the 1,500-meter run.

Dalpiaz was fifth after the first day of competition before moving up to second after the final event.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Monday, May 14th at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet.
