Four Greyhounds Named to 2012 Landmark Conference Winter All-Academic Team

MADISON, N.J. --- Seniors Nicco Dalpiaz (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy HS), Timothy Layng (Canton, PA/Canton HS), Abby Schaffer (Easton, Pa./Easton HS) and Lisa Williamson (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS) from Moravian College have been named to the 2012 Landmark Conference Winter All-Academic Team.

The Landmark Conference has selected 32 student-athletes for the 2012 Winter Landmark All-Academic Team.  Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically.  Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark winter sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better.

The senior class was the most represented on the All-Academic Team with 19 selections. The remaining positions were taken by 10 sophomores and three juniors. In addition all six winter sports sponsored by the Landmark Conference are represented with at least one selection. The Landmark Conference will select an All-Academic Team for each of the three athletics seasons during the year.

Dalpiaz was a stellar part of Moravian's third Landmark Indoor Track & Field Championship. He won the 60-meter hurdles to earn All-Conference honors and then added a runner-up finish in the pole vault event at the meet. He also had two fourth-place finishes. He is a management major, is the president of Moravian business and economics club, and is a three-time Dean's List choice.

Layng earned All-America honors for the Moravian indoor track & field team. He placed seventh in the pole vault at the NCAA Division III Championships, shortly after he won the event with a school and meet record height of 4.96-meters at the Landmark Championships. He boasts a stellar GPA as a biology major, has been on the Dean's List every semester, and is involved in several clubs.

Schaffer continued to produce stellar results for the Moravian track & field team. She earned All-America honors for the fifth time her career by placing second in the pole vault at the NCAA Division III Championships, and won the event at the Landmark meet. She was named the 2012 USTFCCCA Mideast Region Female Field Athlete of the Year. She is studying marketing at Moravian.

Williamson earns All-Academic honors for the second time in her career after a strong indoor track season. She was voted Indoor Female Track Athlete of the Year after winning the 60-meter dash and placing second in the 200 and 400 and running a winning relay team. She is a double major in psychology and elementary education, and has multiple Academic Honor Roll and Dean's List selections.
