Layng Finished 7th at New Balance Collegiate Invitational

NEW YORK, N.Y. --- Senior Timothy Layng of the Moravian College men's indoor track & field team placed seventh in the pole vault "College" at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in the New York City Armory.

Layng cleared 4.90 meters (16 feet, 3/4 inch) to equal his own school record set a week ago.  The height is also an ECAC qualifying height and is tied for fifth on the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) list to compete at the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships.  Layng was seventh of 13 competitors in the college flight that cleared a height, and he was just one of two non-NCAA Division I student-athletes in the field.  Layng was also one of four competitors to to clear 4.90 meters but the placing was based on the number of jumps.

Moravian will return to the New York City Armory on Friday, February 10 for the Lafayette College/Rider University Winter Games.
