Moravian Hosting Women in Athletics Week March 14-19 Highlighted by Joetta Clark Diggs Speech on March 16

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College Department of Athletics and Recreation is hosting Women in Athletics Week from March 14-19 in a weeklong celebration honoring former and current Greyhound student-athletes while encouraging young girls to stay active through participation in sports.

The first highlight event of the week will be on Tuesday, March 15 when Moravian hosts the Beverly Bell '56 Student-Athlete & Alumni Lunch Reception which will include former Greyhounds, three student-athletes from each of Moravian's women's teams and all female coaches.

Moravian will welcome United States track & field standout Joetta Clark Diggs for a speech in Johnston Hall on Wednesday, March 16 beginning at 8:00 p.m. Clark Diggs is a four-time Olympian, competing in the 800-meters in the 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games, and is a highly sought-after motivational and inspirational speaker.

The week will finish with a Girls' Sports Clinic in the Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse on Saturday, March 19 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The clinic will include student-athletes from Moravian's field hockey, volleyball, soccer, basketball, cheerleading and tennis teams and conclude with a pizza lunch. After lunch, all of the clinic participants will be encouraged to attend the Moravian women's lacrosse game versus The University of Scranton at 1:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field and the softball doubleheader against The Catholic University of America also beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Blue & Grey Field.
