Travis Johnson joins the Lacrosse program as the Offensive Coordinator and Senior Assistant, bringing over two decades of collegiate coaching experience. Most recently, he served as an Assistant Coach at the United States Military Academy during the 2023 Patriot League Championship and NCAA Quarterfinal season. Prior to that, he was the Head Coach at NJIT, where he played a crucial role in the program’s development and growth.
Before his tenure at NJIT, Johnson was the First Assistant, Defensive Coordinator, and Recruiting Coordinator at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD, where he was instrumental in shaping the team’s defensive strategies and recruiting top-tier talent. His coaching career also includes two stints at Penn State (2004-06, 2008-10) and a tenure at Stony Brook University (2006-08), where he was a key figure in recruiting and player development.
Johnson began his coaching career at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) before moving on to Stevens Institute of Technology (2001-04). As a highly experienced recruiter, he has held recruiting coordinator roles at Stony Brook, Penn State, and Mount St. Mary’s, consistently identifying and developing high-level lacrosse talent.
A 2000 graduate of RIT, Johnson was a standout player during his collegiate career before being selected by the Rochester Knighthawks in the 2000 National Lacrosse League draft.
