Jesse Baumann is entering his 14th year as Director of Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field in 2024-25. In his first 13 years with the program, Baumann led the men’s cross country team to a trio of Landmark Conference Championships and the women’s squad to Landmark titles in 2011 and 2013. He also coached the first male cross country All-American in 2014 and a female All-American in 2016.

Baumann has also led the indoor and outdoor track & field teams to 34 conference titles. Baumann has coached 36 All-Americans while sending 53 student-athletes to the NCAA Division III National Championship Meets in track & field in 13 years.

Baumann came to Moravian after five years as the head women’s cross country coach and track & field distance coach at Lynchburg College. Baumann began his coaching career as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Baumann is a 2004 graduate of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in watershed management, and he completed his Master of Science Education degree at Lynchburg in 2010. As an undergraduate, Baumann was a six-time NCAA Division III national meet qualifier and a four-time All-American in the 800 meters, 1,500 meters and distance medley relay. Baumann has a USATF Level 1 Certification, which he earned in 2007, and has earned his USTFCCCA Certification in sprints, relays, hurdles, jumps, and strength and conditioning.
