McPherson & Spirk Earn ECAC DIII Metro Honors

DANBURY, Conn. --- Moravian College senior forward Camille McPherson has been selected to the 2017 ECAC Division III Metro All-Star First Team while Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk has been named the ECAC Division III Metro Coach of the Year.

Spirk, who just finished her 30th year at Moravian, led the Greyhounds to a 20-8 record this winter, the program's 19th 20-win season, and had the Greyhounds in the postseason for the 16th consecutive year. Spirk, who has been honored as the conference Coach of the Year ten times in her career, is receiving her first ECAC Coach of the Year honor. Moravian played in the Landmark Conference Semifinals for the ninth time in the 10-year history of the conference this winter after an 11-3 record in the regular season tied the squad for second in the standings. Moravian also participated in the ECAC Division III Championship Tournament for the eighth time in 2017, making the quarterfinals.

McPherson, who was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team last week, led the Greyhounds in scoring at 22.9 points per game, and her 642 points this season are the second most in a single season in school history. McPherson also paced the Hounds on the boards at 8.6 rebounds per game to go with a team high 59 three-pointers and eight double-doubles. She added 80 assists, 20 steals and 15 blocked shots, and McPherson shot 80.8 percent at the foul line (143-of-177), 47.5 percent from the floor (220-of-463) and 38.8 percent beyond the arc (59-of-152). This winter, McPherson was also named the Lehigh Valley Small College Women's Basketball Pete Nevins Player of the Year while earning a spot on the LVSCB Team of the Year.

"Camille had quite an impressive season and adds another deserving award to the list," Spirk stated. "She led the team all season both on and off the court, and her desire to be the best on the court helped our young team achieve success this year."

Spirk loses just McPherson and senior guard Morgan Calabrese off of this year's squad next season, and she'll have three returning starters that are sophomores in guard Karlie Brogan and Maddie Capuano and center Nadine Ewald.
