Schall Moves Up to 3rd in NCAA Division III in Total Assists

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Junior forward Kirsten Schall of the Moravian College women's soccer team retained her high standing in the NCAA Division III statistics rankings after an impressive offensive display in a 4-0 victory over Delaware Valley College on Saturday.

Schall is tied for third place in the nation with seven assists along with five other players. The national leaders have eight assists through games of Sept. 22. Schall is ranked in a seventh-place tie in DIII with 0.88 assists per game.

The junior striker has 21 total points through the Greyhounds' first eight games, which ranks tied for 13th in the nation with three other women. The Division III leader has 33 points. Her seven goals in 2013 rank tied for 41st. In soccer statistics, two points are awarded for a goal and one point is given for an assist.

Schall recorded a goal and two assists in Moravian's 4-0 defeat of Delaware Valley in Doylestown, Pa. on Saturday. The junior helped the Hounds get on the board first with a corner kick that found the foot of teammate Christine Miklas, who volleyed Schall's ball into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Schall's goal came in the 54th minute of the second half, when she found herself on a breakaway after her teammate and co-captain, Taylor DiSora, played a perfect through ball. Schall shot low to the far post to give the Greyhounds a 3-0 lead.

She then assisted on Moravian's fourth goal of the day by playing a one-touch pass to sophomore Micaela Kwochka, who scored her second goal of the match for the 4-0 advantage.

With Landmark Conference play only four days away, Schall sits atop the conference rankings in all three major offensive categories. Her assists on Saturday also gave her sole possession of seventh place at Moravian College with 15 career assists, breaking a tie with Kate McGonigal and Stevie Ochse. Her seven assists on the season matches her helper total from last season, which stands as the fourth-highest season total in school history.

The Greyhounds (4-4) open conference play on the road at Susquehanna University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
