Women's Tennis Competes on Opening Day of ITA Southeast Regional

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team competed on the opening day of the 2016 Intercollegiate Tennis Association hosted by the University of Mary Washington Saturday.

The Greyhounds doubles team of senior Aisling Doyle and junior Caitlin Adams won both of their matches in the Blue 3 Doubles flight to reach the semifinals on Sunday. The duo had an 8-3 win in the first round over a team from McDaniel College before posting an 8-4 triumph in the quarterfinals over a squad from Elizabethtown College. Doyle and Adams will take on a team from Washington College at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Freshmen Eiman Nazif and Lauren Steinert won their opening doubles match in the Blue 2 Doubles flight, 8-6, over a team from Muhlenberg College before falling to a squad from Bridgewater College, 8-2, in the quarterfinals.

In singles action, sophomore Kate Rennar won her opening match in the Blue 5 singles match, 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-2) over a player from St. Mary's College of Maryland before falling, 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals to a player from Virginia Wesleyan College.

Seniors Brittney Eady and Roberta Scantlebury will play in the Championship Doubles consolation bracket on Sunday, and Eady is also in the consolation flight of the Championship Singles bracket. Doyle, Nazif and Steinert will all be in the consolation brackets of their singles flights on Sunday.
