Women's Volleyball Drops Matches to No. 10 Juniata and Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in Landmark Conference action Saturday in Selinsgrove as the Greyhounds fell in three sets to nationally-ranked Juniata College and in three sets to host Susquehanna University.

The No. 10 ranked Eagles defeated the Greyhounds, 25-16, 26-24, 25-22, as the teams began action for the day. Sophomore middle blocker Erin Tiger had nine kills while senior middle blocker Taylor Kornmann had seven kills. Freshman setter Victoria Kauffman paced the Blue and Grey with 14 assists to go with a pair of kills while junior libero Jean Markovic had a team-high 18 digs.

Junior outside hitter Mary Zacher contributed 12 digs while freshman outside hitter Brooke Kusmider had a pair of kills. Sophomore defensive specialist Bridgette Devlin had seven digs while freshman defensive specialist Alexis Szaro had six digs and senior right side hitter Jaclyn Smith had four digs.

The Blue and Grey fell to the host Crusaders 25-15, 25-11, 25-14 in the final match of the day. Tiger had six kills in the contest while Zacher also had six kills to go with four digs. Kornmann contributed four kills and a pair of blocks while Kauffman added 22 assists and three digs.

Kusmider had four kills in the contest while Smith posted three kills. Markovic led the squad with 12 digs while Devlin had seven more digs.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Monday, October 3 in a non-conference match at Widener University beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Chester, Pennsylvania.
