BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's basketball squad dropped an 89-77 decision to visiting DeSales University in Johnston Hall Tuesday evening.
How It Happened
- The Bulldogs netted the first five points of the night before sophomore forward Marquis Ratcliff hit a jumper for the Greyhounds. Junior forward Gary Francis pulled the Hounds within a point at 5-4 before DeSales went on a 13-4 run to opening a double-digit lead at 19-8 with 11:06 to go in the first half
- Moravian got back within six points at 19-13 after a three-pointer from junior forward Nate Santiago at the 10:13 mark. However, the Bulldogs pulled away again to lead by as many as 18 points before heading to the locker room with a 44-31 advantage
- The second half saw DeSales continue to pull away by as many as 29 points. The Hounds finished the contest with a 22-5 run to get back within 12 points at the final buzzer
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had three players in double figures led by Francis, who netted a game and career high 24 points to go with a pair of rebounds while senior guard Alex Dietz netted 14 points to go along with three rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals
- Ratcliff finished with 12 points and four boards while Santiago and senior guard Filippo Baldo both had five points with Santiago grabbing three rebounds
- Freshman guard Taylor Perlmutter also tossed in five points to go with four assists while sophomore forward Liam Cummiskey and freshman guard Riley Flood both had three points
- Junior guard/forward Michael Leonardo, sophomore guard Porter Kelly and sophomore forward Uma Kalu all scored two points with Kalu adding two rebounds and Kelly dishing out two assists
- The Hounds shot 25-for-60 from the field, 9-for-28 beyond the three-point line and 18-for-21 at the foul line in the contest
