Hounds Race Past Keystone for Non-Conference Victory

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's basketball team raced out to a first half lead on the way to a 98-73 victory over visiting Keystone College in non-conference action in Johnston Hall Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds scored the opening points of the contest on a pair of free throws from sophomore forward Marquis Ratcliff. The Giants netted six of the next eight points for a 6-4 lead, their only advantage of the game. Senior guard Alex Dietz and sophomore guard Porter Kelly connected on back-to-back three-pointers to give Moravian the lead for good at 10-6 with 15:18 on the clock
  • The Blue & Grey saw their advantage reach double figures for the first time at 21-11 on a three-pointer from Ratcliff at the 11:47 mark, and the Hounds led by as many as 20 points in the opening half at 38-18 after Dietz drained a jumper with 3:44 left before the intermission. Moravian headed to the locker room with a 47-31 edge
  • The Greyhounds opened the second half by pushing the advantage out to 25 points at 57-32 after consecutive three-pointers from sophomore guard Liam Cummiskey. The Blue & Grey kept the advantage above 16 points for the remainder of the contest

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had 16 players see action in the contest with 13 scoring and five netting double figures. Ratcliff led the way with 19 points and 13 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season and 12th of his career, and he also had a pair of blocked shots and two steals
  • Kelly tossed in 16 points to go with four assists while Cummiskey scored a career-high 14 points with three boards
  • Senior guard Mark Howell tied his career-best with 11 points to go along with four assists and three rebounds while Dietz added ten points, four assists, three steals and a pair of boards
  • Junior guard/forward Michael Leonardo just missed a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds to go with five assists and a pair of blocked shots while freshman guard George Cutler saw his first collegiate action and had five points
  • Junior forward Gary Francis registered four points and four boards while junior forward Nate Santiago added three rebounds and two points
  • Senior forward Mike DiPietro had two points as did freshman guards Taylor Perlmutter and Riley Flood. Freshman forward Brendan Shannon tossed in his first two career points in the first action of his collegiate career
  • The Blue & Grey made 36-of-77 field goal attempts, 14-of-34 three-pointers and 12-of-16 free throws in the contest, and the Hounds had a 47-40 edge in rebounds while forcing the Giants into 20 turnovers
