Moravian Men's Lacrosse Names 2019 Team Captains

Hayden DuPont, Mark Laratta, Brian Biase, Cade Sidron and Jack Gozzard named as 2019 Moravian men's lacrosse team captains.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's lacrosse team has selected seniors Mark Laratta, Jack Gozzard, Hayden DuPont and Brian Biase and junior Cade Siddron as captains for the 2019 season.

"This year the program elected five quality captains," stated Head Coach Dave Carty. "It's great to have some senior leadership that's been tested through the building process. It's the first time we have seniors to drive the program to the next level, it's going to be exciting to see where they can push us."

Laratta, an attack, is a two-time member of the Landmark All-Conference Second Team the last two seasons. He enters his senior campaign with 92 goals, which ranks second in school history, 38 assists, fifth all-time, 130 points, second in program history, 112 ground balls, tied for 11th in the record books, and 28 caused turnovers. Laratta has started all 38 matches he has played in over the last three years.

"Mark is an incredible player that does it all," noted Carty. "He plays extremely tough and has a fire to win that drives him."

Gozzard, an attackman, has contributed 25 goals, 14 assists, 51 ground balls and four caused turnovers in his career, and he has seen action in 34 matches with 30 starts.

"Jack is the player that keeps a level head during the game," explained Carty. "He's got great composure and can think through any tough situation."

DuPont, a midfielder, has three goals, six assists, 95 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers and is 120-of-268 on face-offs in his career with his 45.1 face-off percentage ranking fifth in school history. DuPont leads the captains by having played in 42 career matches with 38 starts.

"Hayden is the Swiss army knife of the group," stated Carty. "He can face-off, he can play defense, he's smart in transition. Off the field, he's the guy the younger players go to."

Biase, a defender, has started all 41 matches of his career while contributing 52 ground balls and 40 caused turnovers.

"Brian is a gritty, hardworking defensemen that controls our defense," Carty said. "He's the one who makes the calls and keeps us organized."

Siddron, an attack, has 31 goals, 15 assists, 23 ground balls and six caused turnovers while playing in 21 career matches with 14 starts.

"Cade has grown in the last year into an exceptional leader," Carty commented. "He's the pump-up guy, the guy who brings the team up emotionally. It's great to see a junior take that roll."

The Greyhounds are scheduled to begin their 2019 campaign on Wednesday, February 20 with a non-conference match at Centenary (N.J.) University beginning at 3:00 p.m.
