TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior attack Mark Laratta and junior long stick midfielder Jimmy Schicke have been named as the Landmark Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

Laratta, who earned his second honor of the season, helped Moravian to a 3-0 record last week as the Greyhounds improved to 5-0 for the first time in program history. He had 11 goals and four assists for 15 points to go with five ground balls and a caused turnovers while shooting 42.3 percent and putting 73.1 percent of his shots on goal. Laratta opened Moravian's trip to Florida with five goals, including two man-up goals, two assists, three ground balls and a caused turnover in a 13-4 victory over St. Joseph's (Maine) College. His first goal of the match was his school-record 101st of his career. Laratta then had three goals and two assists including the final tally with under 30 seconds to play in a 9-7 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology also in Florida. Just over 24 hours later Laratta had three goals and two ground balls in a 20-4 win over Rosemont College back in Pennsylvania.

"Mark leads the offense in every way, he's not only the guy who puts the ball in the net, he's the hardest rider and hustles every play," stated Head Coach Dave Carty.

Schicke had one assist, 20 ground balls and eight caused turnovers during the three matches. Schicke had eight ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers versus St. Joseph's (Maine), and he added five ground balls and two caused turnovers in a 9-7 victory over Wentworth. Schicke had an assist, seven ground balls and four caused turnovers in a 20-4 win over Rosemont.

"Jimmy leads the defense in between the boxes," noted Carty. "He's incredible in the open field and has a non-stop motor. He's been great on ground balls and can take the ball away when he sees the opportunity."

The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Wednesday, March 13 in a non-conference match at DeSales University beginning at 4:00 p.m. in Center Valley.
