Men's Lacrosse Falls at Rival Muhlenberg College

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's lacrosse team fell to rival Muhlenberg College, 17-7, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, who are 5-2 overall this season, had four goal scorers led by junior attack Cade Siddron, who had three goals and an assist to go with four ground balls. Senior attack Mark Laratta added two goals and an assist while senior attack Jack Gozzard and senior midfielder Austin Adams each had one goal with Adams adding three ground balls. Senior midfielder Alec Oriolo also had an assist.

Senior goalie Kurt Dick recorded 14 saves and three ground balls in 57 minutes of action while sophomore goalie Will Dadouris played the final three minutes. Senior defender John Polich had five ground balls and three caused turnovers while senior midfielder Rick Guerra was 14-for-23 on face-offs to go with a team-high nine ground balls. Junior long stick midfielder Jimmy Schicke scooped up four ground balls while senior defender Brian Biase added a pair of ground balls.

Gozzard opened the scored 1:16 into the contest to give the Blue and Grey an early 1-0 lead before the Mules scored twice. Siddron and Adams tallied back-to-back goals as Moravian moved back in front, 3-2, while Muhlenberg scored once more as the match was tied at 3-3 after 15 minutes of action.

Siddron scored the opening goal of the second quarter as the Hounds took their third lead of the afternoon, 4-3. However, Muhlenberg scored next five goals to head to the intermission with an 8-4 advantage.

Siddron and Laratta each tallied goals in the third quarter, but the Mules put another seven goals in the net to lead 14-6 after 45 minutes of action. Laratta tallied a man-up goal with 4:23 remaining in the contest for Moravian's final goal of the afternoon.

The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Saturday, March 23 when the team opens its 2019 Landmark Conference schedule by hosting Goucher College on John Makuvek Field at 1:00 p.m.
