81 Greyhounds Named to 2019 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll

TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has announced its 2019 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, which recognized 81 student-athletes from Moravian College. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions with a total of 593 student-athletes.

The Landmark Academic Honor Roll recognizes all spring student-athletes of sophomore standing or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The student-athletes must complete the spring season in good standing with their team. The Spring Academic Honor Roll begins the academic award season for the conference with the Senior Scholar-Athlete for the spring sports to be named next week.

Of the 593 student-athletes recognized this spring, 313 are repeat honorees having been awarded in a previous year. A remarkable 92 seniors have been named to the Honor Roll all three years they have been eligible. Over 30 honorees were named to their respective all-conference teams this spring, while 11 were announced as Athletes of the Year.

Moravian had student-athletes from all nine spring sports teams named to the Academic Honor Roll. Leading the Greyhounds with the most honorees was the women's outdoor track and field team with 19 student-athletes followed by the women's lacrosse team with 14 selections. The men's outdoor track and field team had 12 honorees while the softball team had 10 selections, the baseball squad had eight, the women's tennis team had six, the men's tennis squad had five, the men's lacrosse team had four and golf team each had three.

Leading the women's outdoor track and field team were seniors Alyssa Limbaugh and Jordan Luciano made the honor roll along with juniors Vanessa Blose, Carly Danoski, Marlee Hornbaker, Katie Mayer, Shayne McNally, Rachel Mikols and Hailee Yoder and sophomores Cat Cole, Jenevieve Eberly, Grace Gilbert, Nora Grimm, Alison Nicolosi, Natalie Novotni, Emily Renner, Molly Talarico, Morgan Weaver and Camaryn Wheeler. The women's team captured its 12th Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship. Danoski, Luciano, Weaver and Wheeler made the All-Conference First Team while Luciano, Novotni and Weaver earned spots on the All-Conference Second Team for the Hounds.

The women's lacrosse team had seniors Dalia Aguilar, Kelley Gavin, Jacqueline LaCava, Kyleigh Miller, Jillian Picciuto, Jessica Pisano and Melissa Webber, juniors Liz Bill, Allie Bremdt and Allie Fisher and sophomores Gabriella Brandon, Maecy Chlebowski, Courtney Heist and Danielle Sullivan named to the Academic Honor Roll. Bill was also selected as the Landmark Conference Player of the Year and the Landmark All-Conference First Team while Picciuto was named to the All-Conference Second Team. The Greyhounds were 12-6 this spring, a school record for wins, and the program made its second straight appearance in the Landmark Conference Semifinals.

On the men's outdoor track list for the Blue and Grey were seniors Jon Anthony, Woodrow Battle, Tyler Bergsma, Aaron Hofmann and John Spirk, juniors Devon Fogel, Ryan Harper, Greg Jaindl, Gavin Kemery and Alex Tursi and sophomores Peter Gingrich and Derek Scott. Moravian's men won their fifth straight Landmark Conference and 11th overall title. Anthony and Spirk, earned spots on the All-Conference First Team with Spirk selected as the Track Athlete of the Year while Anthony, Harper and Jaindl garnered All-Conference Second Team honors.

The softball squad had seniors Julia DeMarco, Ashley Gindle Kaela, Kane and Madison Shaneberger, juniors Lauren Goetz, Samantha O'Keefe and Emily Stanilious and sophomores Meghan Bauer, Shannon Brogan and Brooke Wehr named to the Academic Honor Roll. Shaneberger, Goetz, Brogan and Wehr were selected to the Landmark Conference All-Conference First Team for their play throughout the season while Bauer was a member of All-Conference Second Team. The Greyhounds were 32-7 on the season and played in the Landmark Conference Tournament.

The baseball team had seniors Mike Mittl, Billy Roethke and Kevin Shields, juniors Ian Csencsits, Ian Luberti, Connor Morro and Kole Rodrigues and sophomore Rodney Berger selected to the Academic Honor Roll. Csencsits was also named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team while Mittl was on the Second Team. The Hounds completed the season with a 22-21-1 mark and played in the championship round of the Landmark Conference Tournament.

The men's tennis squad had seniors Peter Demyan, Austin Grace, Luke Peterson and Isaac Schefer along with sophomore Mason Hudnall named to the Academic Honor Roll as Moravian posted a 12-6 mark for the year. Demyan was selected to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team.

The women's tennis honorees were senior Kate Rennar, junior Lauren Steinert and sophomores Brooke Adams, Emma Angle, Kristen Cassidy and Destiny George. Steinert and Angle were also members of the All-Conference First Team while Adams made the All-Conference Second Team. The Greyhounds posted a school record 20 wins as the squad went 20-2 while winning the Landmark Conference Championship and earning a berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament where the squad earned its first NCAA Tournament win in the First Round.

Seniors Austin Adams, John Kerrison and Anthony Pontone and sophomore Will Dadouris were the selections from the men's lacrosse program to the Academic Honor Roll this spring after helping Moravian to an 8-7 mark this season.

The golf team had seniors Kody Long and Joe Rochelle and sophomore Kody Kolnik named to the Academic Honor Roll. The Greyhounds finished third in the 2019 Landmark Conference Championships.
