Track & Field Teams Set to Begin 2019 Outdoor Season on March 23 at West Chester

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's and women's indoor track & field teams are set to begin the 2019 outdoor season on Saturday, March 23 with they travel to the West Chester University Golden Ram Invitational.

Eighth-year Head Coach Jesse Baumann has both teams looking to repeat as Landmark Conference Champions after both squads won indoor title last month. The women have captured all 11 Landmark Conference Outdoor championships while the men have won 10 of 11 possible Landmark outdoor titles including four straight.

The women's squad has 25 returning student-athletes including five competitors that earned Landmark All-Conference honors last spring. Senior Anna Osman was the 2018 Landmark Conference Female Track Athlete of the after winning the 400-meter dash and 400-meter hurdles for the third straight year, and she was also the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay. Junior Carly Danoski looks to repeat as the 800-meter run champion after making it the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship in the event.

Danoski and sophomores Morgan Weaver and Camaryn Wheeler joined Osman on the 4x400-meter relay squad. Senior Jordan Luciano is looking for her second straight title in the long jump, and Luciano and Wheeler were on the winning 4x100-meter relay squad last year while Danoski was also the runner-up in the 1,500-meter run.

The men's squad has 26 returning student-athletes including seven All-Conference performers. Senior hurdler John Spirk aims to capture both the 110-meter high hurdles and 400-meter hurdles for a fourth consecutive year in May. Senior Scott Goodwin is looking for his third straight title in the pole vault while junior Ryan Harper is trying to be a three-time champion in the shot put. Junior Justin Beasley-Turner looks to repeat at the 800-meter run champion.

Spirk also made the All-Conference Second Team in the 4x400-meter relay last spring and is joined by sophomore Sean McFarland as returners from that group. Junior Greg Jaindl was a three-time runner-up in 2018 in the 1,500-meter run, the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the 5,000-meter run while senior Brian Stock returns after making the All-Conference Second Team as part of the 4x100-meter relay squad.
