TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has named 46 student-athletes including four from Moravian College to the 2018-19 Winter All-Sportsmanship Team. The All-Sportsmanship Team includes one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team.
The All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. The student-athletes selected demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory and respectfulness in defeat. They are ambassadors for the team, both on and off the field, and galvanize their teammates toward their goals. These student-athletes exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and the greater campus community.
The All-Sportsmanship Team was created by the Landmark Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in 2013 as a way to highlight student-athletes who are making an impact. The Landmark previously awarded a Sportsmanship Cup before the All-Sportsmanship Team replaced the Cup for the 2013-14 academic year.

Men's Basketball
Senior guard Will Brazukas has helped the men's basketball team to a third straight season of at least 19 wins and the program's second consecutive Landmark Conference title. The Hounds are 19-8 overall and set to play Keene State (N.H.) College in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament on Friday, March 1 at 5:30 p.m. in Clinton, New York. Brazukas has an average of 5.2 points per outing with 88 assists, 69 rebounds, 34 steals and 11 three-pointers this season, and he is fifth in school history with 318 assists, tied for eighth with 128 steals and tied for second with 105 games played.
"Will is a great representative of our program in all areas," said Head Coach Justin Potts. "He competes on and off the court and values the opportunity to be a student athlete. His leadership guidance & work ethic is a great example for our young players. Will is very deserving of this honor. He plays with passion and energy while respecting the game and the opponent. It has been a pleasure coaching him the last four years."
Women's Basketball
Junior Karlie Brogan was a starting guard for the women's basketball team that finished with a 16-10 record as the Greyhounds reached the Landmark Conference Semifinals. Brogan started 25 of 26 games this winter, and she averaged 11.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game to go along with 51 assists, 48 steals, 35 three-pointers and nine blocked shots. Brogan, who was selected to the 2019 Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year, heads to her senior season with 717 points and 456 rebounds.
"Karlie is everything and more that this sportsmanship award embodies," stated Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "She is the consummate team player, an extension of the coaching staff on the court, with a strong work ethic as anyone I have had the pleasure to coach. Karlie is a pleasure to coach and as one of our captains is a leader on and off the court. She is truly deserving of this award."
Track & Field
Senior pole vaulter Scott Goodwin has been a key contributor to the Greyhounds capturing four Landmark Conference Indoor Championships during his career. He was a two-time conference champion in the pole vault was the favorite in 2019 before an injury kept him from competing. Goodwin is also a two-time defending champion outdoors in the pole vault.
"Selflessness is one of the qualities that come to mind when I think of sportsmanship, and there wasn't a better example of that than Scott on Saturday," commented Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "As a senior, and the favorite (on paper) to win the pole vault at conference, he wound up injuring his hamstring in warm ups and ended up being unable to compete. He had every reason to feel sorry for himself but instead he immediately started to encourage Max and John in the pole vault and was asking me how else he could help at the meet. At any meet, he's always encouraging fellow competitors, has a very jovial demeanor and wants to see a good competition rather than win by someone else not competing to their best. He'll always help out with the standards and bungees in warm ups, and just in general looks out for everyone else just as much as he is concerned with his own well-being and performance."
Junior distance runner Marlee Hornbaker helped the Greyhound women win their second consecutive Landmark Conference Indoor title, which was also the program's 11th championship in the last 12 indoor seasons. Hornbaker competed in the 5,000-meter run, placing 12th.
"Marlee is studying to be a nurse and it's clear she's chosen a perfect career due to the concern and compassion she shows for others," Baumann explained. "She's just as excited for her teammates' success as she is her own, and she always interacts with anyone, teammate or foe, with the utmost respect. She's extremely coachable due to all these traits and is a tremendous asset to have on our team."
