Danoski, Jaindl & Spirk to Compete in 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The Moravian College men's and women's track & field teams has had three student-athletes – senior John Spirk and juniors Carly Danoski and Greg Jaindl – selected as part of the field for the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships that will be hosted by the University of Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission from May 23-25 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Spirk is making his first-ever trip to the NCAA Division III Championships and is scheduled to run in the preliminaries of the 400-meter intermediate hurdles on Thursday at 4:40 p.m. Spirk ran a PR of 53.16 seconds in the event on Thursday in the finals of the 2019 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships, taking nearly seven tenths of a second off of his previous best to enter the NCAA meet with the 12th fastest qualifying time overall and top time in the Mideast Region. The three heat winners and the next six fastest times will advance to the finals on Saturday at 2:25 p.m.

Jaindl, who is making his second straight trip to the NCAA Outdoor meet, is slated to race in the preliminaries of the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Thursday at 5:50 p.m. Jaindl ran a school record time of 9:03.89 on May 13 at the Swarthmore College Final Qualifier, which was the seventh qualifying spot and is also the third fastest time in the Mideast Region. The top five from each of the two preliminary heats and the next four fastest times will advance to the finals on Saturday at 11:45 a.m.

Danoski, who will be competing in the NCAA Championships for the third time and the second outdoors, is the final member of the group to compete with the preliminaries of the 800-meter run set for Friday at 4:15 p.m. Danoski enters the meet with the 13th fastest time declared in the nation and the second best in the Mideast Region at 2:13.14, a time that she ran on April 6 at the Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton University. The top two from each of the three preliminary heats and the next three fastest times will advance to the finals on Saturday at 1:50 p.m.
