Top 10 Games of 2018-19 - No.6 - Women's Tennis Defeats Scranton, 5-2, for Landmark Conference Title

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College is continuing its look back at its 2018-19 athletic campaign. The next event in the Top 10 Exciting Games from the past year is our No. 5 highlight – the women's tennis team defeating The University of Scranton, 5-2, to capture the 2019 Landmark Conference title.

The Greyhounds, who are on the countdown for the second time after having the No. 10 highlight for earning the program's first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament victory, completed the 2018-19 season with a 20-2 overall record, the first team in program history to reach 20 wins, and a 7-0 mark during the Landmark Conference regular season under the direction of first-year Director of Tennis Aaron Wilf.

On Saturday, May 4, the Hounds hosted second seed Scranton in the Landmark Conference Championship match indoors at the Lehigh University Lewis Tennis Center due to the weather. The Royals would actually take a 2-1 lead in the doubles action to begin the contest with the Blue and Grey earning a point from the duo of junior Eiman Nazif  and sophomore Emma Angle at first doubles.

The Hounds entered singles action needing to win four of the six contests to clinch the conference title. Nazif was first to finish at the four-court Lewis Tennis Center with a straight sets win at second singles while junior Lauren Steinert posted a two-set victory at fourth singles to give Moravian a 3-2 advantage. Angle won in straight sets at first singles before sophomore Brooke Adams won a two-set contest at fifth singles to give the Greyhounds their fourth Landmark Conference title, the first since 2011, and an automatic berth to the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. Moravian now as four Landmark Conference Championships and a total of 12 conference titles.
