Senior Matthew Lutcza Named to USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Senior Matthew Lutcza of the Moravian College men's cross country teams has been named to the 2011 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III All-Academic Cross Country Team.

Lutcza is one of 141 student-athletes from 80 NCAA Division III institutions to win the award. The USTFCCCA honors Division III individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the cross country. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 through the most recent semester and have placed in the top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships.

Lutcza, who was also on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team after the 2010 season as well, earned Landmark All-Conference First Team honors for a second straight year after finishing second at the 2011 Landmark Conference Championships hosted by the Greyhounds in the snow. He then earned All-Mideast Region honors for a second consecutive season with a 27th place finish at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional at DeSales. In 2010, Lutcza earned the Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Outstanding Performer after winning the Landmark Cross Country Championship. He also earned All-Region honors with a 21st-place finish at the NCAA Regional and qualified for the NCAA Championships

Lutcza, who is majoring in computer science, is a six-time member of the Dean's List, and was on the Landmark Conference Fall All-Academic Team last year. He was the 2010 Landmark Conference Runner of the Year while earning All-Region honors and running at the NCAA Division III National Championships a year ago.
