TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore Gregory Jaindl has been honored the Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for his performance last week in the opening race of the season.

Jaindl helped the Greyhounds finish first of the non-NCAA Division I teams in the Lehigh University Invitational last Friday on the Goodman Campus. Jaindl led the Hounds and was third of 32 runners in the group with a time of 19:10.75 on the 6,000-meter course to start the fall.

"Greg worked extremely hard this summer and it clearly shows so far," commented seventh-year Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "At our mile time trial, both he and Devon Harris ran the second fastest times we've had behind only Dillon Farrell from a few years ago. He dropped about a minute from his meet opener at Lehigh last year. All of his workouts have been huge improvements from last year as well, including a great VO2max workout that Greg, Devon, and the rest of the team had last night. He's assumed a leadership role with the team both vocally and in terms of his performance, so I couldn't be happier with what he's contributed to the team thus far."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, September 9 when the Greyhounds head to the Juniata College Invitational in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania to preview the course that will be used for this year's Landmark Conference Championship meet in late October.
