Jaindl Earns Third Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week Honor

Greg Jaindl named Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior Gregory Jaindl earned his third Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor for his performance on Saturday.

Jaindl led Moravian in the College Men's Brown race as part of the annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday, finishing the 8,000-meer course in 25:46 to finish in 37th place of 363 runners. Jaindl's time was the third best of his career and 13th best time in school history.

"Greg hasn't truly been tested so far this year so we were eager to see what he could do," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "He went out conservatively through the 3,200 meters and was in about 25th place on pace for a big PR. He maintained that through the four mile but just didn't feel as great by the time he got to the four mile mark and faded a little, but still finished in the top 40 and ran one of the best times in the region at the meet, which included Haverford, Johns Hopkins, and some other highly ranked teams. The course was extremely muddy which slowed down times and made the course more challenging, but he still handled it well for what was arguably his best cross country performance in his time at Moravian."

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, October 13 at the Inter-Regional Rumble being hosted by Rowan (N.J.) University.
