Football & Women's Basketball Teams Participate in Read Across America

 

Basketball Teams Read at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School

  • The Moravian College women's and men's basketball teams headed to Thomas Jefferson Elementary School on Wednesday, January 6th to read to to the students.
 

Women's Basketball Team Visits Lehigh Valley - Muhlenberg Hospital

  • The Moravian College women's basketball team made a visit to the Lehigh Valley – Muhlenberg Hospital on Wednesday, December 14th. Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk, assistant coaches Amy Endler and Sara Steinman, and half of our team spent the morning at the hospital visiting patients. We started in the pediatric oncology unit and spent some time with several children receiving chemotherapy. Then we went to several other units and sang Christmas carols for the patients. It was a great experience and it was amazing to see how much joy our singing brought to these people around the holidays.
 

SAAC Donates Over $500 To Turning Point for 4th Straight Year

  • The Moravian College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee raised over $500 from all of the Moravian College student-athletes for a fourth straight year to purchase toys and other gifts that were donated to Turning Point, a shelter for victims of domestic violence. The picture below shows Ed Matta (football, Danielle Brogan (women's basketball), Katie Marakos (women's basketball), Ericka Blair (women's basketball) and Seth Payne (football) with some of the wrapped gifts to deliver.
 

Track & Field Squads Hold Clinic with William Penn Elementary School 5th Graders

  • On October 26, 2011, Moravian’s men's and women's track & field teams held a clinic with the fifth graders from William Penn Elementary School in Bethlehem to teach proper techniques. There were stations for the long jump, high jump and shot put before everyone combined in a relay race around the Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse. At the end of the clinic, all of the William Penn students were presented with a certificate and a chocolate medal.

 

Softball Team Donates Equipment to Lehigh County Special Olympics

  • On August 2, 2011, Moravian’s softball team donated softball equipment (new gloves, bats and equipment bags) to the Lehigh County Special Olympics Softball Program. Assistant coach Ron Cardinal and Shannon Mohr ‘13 represented Moravian College (Stephanie Eddinger ’05, a Moravian alum and past member of Moravian’s softball team is one of the coaches for this Special Olympics team). Currently Special Olympics has over 70 members in this program.

 

Football Players Speak at Freedom High School

  • D.J. Wacker (#28), Travis King (#30), Seth Payne (#94) and Jim Tersigni (#67) spoke at Freedom High School in Bethlehem in March 2011 to a group of students on encouraging excellence.
 

Basketball Teams at William Penn Elementary School

  • Members of the Moravian College men's and women's basketball teams went to William Penn Elementary School in January 2011 to read stories to the students. Garrett Johnson '13 from the men's squad and Amy Heffner '11 of the women's team are reading to a classroom in the first photo.
 

Men's Basketball Squad Hosts Bethlehem Boys & Girls Club

  • The Moravian College men's basketball team hosted children from the Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem at a basketball game in January 2011.
