Greyhounds Fall to William Paterson in Overtime as Heaney Nets First Career Goal

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team dropped their second home contest of the 2017 season Saturday afternoon, falling to William Paterson (N.J.) University, 2-1 in overtime, in non-conference action on John Makuvek Field.

The Greyhounds got on the board early in the first half with freshman midfielder Erica Heaney getting a shot pass the goalie in the 8th minute for her first collegiate goal.

"We came out strong today, found the back of the net early and played as a team," commented Head Coach Kristen Gillis. "Each game the players gel more and more and the success will come."

The Pioneers tied the match in the 68th minute and scored the game-winning goal in overtime.

Freshman goalie Ashley Kunsman recorded three saves in 78 minutes for Moravian. Gillis stated, "I'm proud of the heart each player showed today and look forward to Thursday."

The Hounds are set to return to action on Thursday, September 14 when the squad heads to Delaware Valley University in a non-conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m.
