BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey squad dropped its first Landmark Conference match of the 2017 season by a 7-0 score to the University of Scranton Saturday afternoon on John Makuvek Field.
The Royals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first nine minutes of play, and added three more goals by the end of the first half and led 6-0 at the intermission. Scranton added just one goal in the second half while junior defender Emily Duddy made a defensive save for the Greyhounds in the 42nd minute.
"We had a slow start, but there were some positives in the second half," commented Head Coach Kristen Gillis. "We had multiple people step up in different positions in the second half. We're looking forward to bounce back Tuesday."
Moravian freshman goalie Ashley Kunsman started in the cage and had four saves in the first half of action while freshman keeper Sabrina Masone added three saves in the second half.
The Greyhounds are slated to get back in action on Tuesday, September 26 when the squad hosts Bryn Mawr College in a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
