Walker & Staff to Wear Sneakers Saturday for Coaches vs. Cancer Suits & Sneakers Awareness Week
ATLANTA, Ga. --- Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers™ Awareness Week, a collaborative initiative of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society, will take place January 19-25, 2015.

During this week, more than 4,000 high school and college men's basketball coaches, including Moravian College Head Coach Jim Walker and his Greyhounds' staff, will swap their dress shoes for sneakers with their usual game attire during the Hounds' Landmark Conference game on Saturday, January 24 versus Juniata College at 4:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer Society's efforts to finish the fight against cancer.
Juniata Head Coach Greg Curley and his staff will join the Greyhounds in wearing sneakers on Saturday to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer Society during the 12th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits & Sneakers Awareness Weekend. To show your support of Coach Walker's effort in the fight against cancer, the Greyhounds invite you to wear your sneakers to the game.
Last winter, Walker shot free throws for an hour a day on 24 consecutive days to raise addition money for Coaches vs. Cancer. During the stretch, Walker made 16,022 free throws and raised over $3,300. Later this month, Walker will take to the foul line again.
College and high school coaches and teams who participate in Suits And Sneakers Awareness Week help the American Cancer Society save lives and fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of college and high school coaches across the country, Coaches vs. Cancer participants have raised nearly $85 million since 1993. The Society's efforts have contributed to a 20 percent decline in cancer death rates in the US since 1991, and a 50 percent drop in smoking rates since the 1960s.
