Men's Cross Country Named 2011 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- The Moravian College men's cross country teams has been named one of 131 teams that earned the 2011 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III All-Academic Cross Country status.

The Greyhounds posted a team GPA of 3.14, and were one of three Landmark Conference teams to earn the honors, joining Goucher College and Susquehanna University.  This is the second straight year the Moravian men's squad has earned the award.  To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better.

Moravian, under the direction of first-year head coach Jesse Baumann, captured its first Landmark Conference Championship this fall, and then placed 13th of 47 schools at the 2011 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional.

Last week, senior Matthew Lutcza (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley HS) was one of 141 student-athletes from 80 NCAA Division III institutions to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the second straight year that Lutcza has earned the honor.  Lutcza earned Landmark All-Conference First Team honors for a second straight year after finishing second at the 2011 Landmark Conference Championships hosted by the Greyhounds in the snow. He then earned All-Mideast Region honors for a second consecutive season with a 27th place finish at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional at DeSales University.
