TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior forward Alesha Marcks has been selected as the Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.
Marcks averaged 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Greyhounds. She was also 21-for-23 at the foul line (91.3 percent) and 10-for-22 from the floor in the two contests while adding six assists, five steals and a pair of blocked shots while playing 61 minutes. This is the second time this season that Marcks has been named the Landmark Athlete of the Week.
Marcks had a team high 18 points to go with eight rebounds and five assists while shooting a perfect 10-for-10 at the charity stripe as the Hounds nearly upset No. 14 The University of Scranton, falling 67-64 on the road last Wednesday. She then had 23 points, seven rebounds and four steals as Moravian posted an 83-77 victory at Susquehanna University to remain in the chase for a berth in the Landmark Conference Tournament.
"Alesha has raised her level of play over the past week," commented Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "Her effort over the past two games against the top two teams in the league was tremendous. We challenged the entire team to play with more consistency and high energy, and Alesha certainly accepted the challenge. She is an undersized post player who plays bigger than her size, but what makes her such a terrific player is her passion and energy that she brings to the court."
The Greyhounds will close out a three-game road trip on Wednesday, February 11 in a Landmark game at Drew University tipping off at 7:00 p.m.
