Moravian Hosts Keynote Lecture on 40 Years of Title IX

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College hosted a keynote lecture to over 130 people on Thursday, January 24 featuring Dr. Margaret McMenamin and Dr. Christina W. Jackson as part of the school's week long celebration of 40 years of Title IX.

Dr. McMenamin is the President of Union County College in New Jersey, and she was the first woman to receive a basketball scholarship from Temple University in 1975.  Dr. Jackson, is a former Moravian College professor and coach. Dr. Jackson left Moravian in 1969 and spent the next 30 years coaching and teaching at the College of William& Mary.

The lecture, which also included a question and answer session, was the second of two events on Thursday that also featured a luncheon with the two speakers. Earlier the week, Moravian hosted a badminton tournament, one of the first sports added at Moravian for women after the passing of Title IX.

On Saturday, Moravian's women's teams will be hosting a free clinic for girls kindergarten through 8th grade. More than 60 children have registered for the event.
