BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The 2012-13 Moravian College athletic department recently took part in the Wounded Warrior Project, and each program had a picture taken to say thank you to all the veterans.

The pictures were taken to send to a program through Bank of America.  For every picture expressing thanks, Bank of America donated $1 to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Since September 11, 2001 the United States has been involved in two wars which resulted in the death and wounding of thousands of men and women in our Armed Forces. As of August 1, 2012 there have been 6,546 casualties, 49,251 wounded, an estimated 320,000 traumatic brain injuries and an estimated 400,000 post traumatic stress disorder injuries (figures from the WWP).

We as a nation must never forget these individuals and what they have done. There is an organization dedicated to assisting these heroes, The Wounded Warrior Project. The goals of the WWP programs are to raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured service members aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members. The WWP also encourages the recognition of all members for the great service to our country.

The Moravian College Football team honored the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) on Saturday, November 10th and all of the men and women who have served in the military by donating proceeds from the game to the WWP.

At halftime, the Moravian College Marching Band played the five service anthems with student Ian Murphy singing each to honor fans and members of the Moravian College community who have served or are currently serving in the military.
