Five Baseball Players Among National Leaders in Final NCAA Stats

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Five student-athletes from the Moravian College baseball team are ranked nationally in the final NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2013 season, and the team was ranked in four statistical categories as well.

Sophomore third baseman Ryan Luke was tied for 50th in the nation with five sacrifice flies, and he is tied for 60th in RBI per game with 1.05 per contest and tied for 77th in RBI with 42.

Junior outfielder Joseph Connell was tied for 75th with four triples, and he also was tied for 88th in RBI per game at 0.95 and tied for 97th in RBI with 40.

Sophomore outfielder Matt Hanson was tied for 34th with five triples and tied for 50th in triples per game at 0.13.

Junior pitcher Chris Soltys was tied for 88th in the nation with four saves this season while freshman pitcher Anthony Zaloga was tied for 83rd in WHIP with a 1.06 on 15 walks and 57 hits allowed in 68 innings of action.

As a team, the Greyhounds were tied for 23rd in triples with 17, 39th in triples per game at 0.40 per contest, tied for 39th in sacrifice bunts with 40 and 50th in walks allowed per nine innings at 2.81.

Moravian finished the 2013 season with a 24-19 record and a 10-8 slate in Landmark Conference action. The Greyhounds captured the 2013 Landmark Conference Championship and earned an automatic berth to the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament at the Auburn, N.Y. Regional.
