2013 Baseball Schedule Announced

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College baseball team announced its schedule on Thursday. The Greyhounds hope to improve of their 28-16 record from last year where they fell just one game short of the Landmark Conference Championship.

The Greyhounds led by seventh year head coach Paul Engelhardt (139-101) returns 19 letter-winners that include five starters.

Moravian opens its season versus Rutgers-Camden at the Ty Cobb Classic hosted by Hampden-Sydney College on February 22nd. The Greyhounds will also take on Hampden-Syndey and SUNY New Platz while down there.

Moravian will then face its first tough test as they travel to preseason nationally-ranked No. 7 Kean University on February 26th before they travel to Florida for eight days between March 2nd and the 9th. While down in Florida the Greyhounds will take on three of the same opponents they face last year in Heidelberg University, John Carroll University and Muskingum University. Moravian also added Bluffton University and nationally-ranked #13/17 Adrian (Mich.) College.

Moravian then takes on long-time rival Muhlenberg College three days after returning to Bethlehem. The Greyhounds then travel to Landmark rival The Catholic University of America on the weekend of March 16th. After that, Moravian has its home opener on March 19th against The College of New Jersey.

The Hounds next tough test will take place on March 26th as they travel to Misercoridia University, who is receiving votes in the national preseason poll. Moravian hosts The United States Merchant Marine Academy, who was the only Landmark team to take the season series against the Hounds, on the weekend of April 6th.

Between April 21st and April 24th, the Greyhounds will have three tough non-conference opponents. Moravian will start off with DeSales University, who is receiving votes in the national preseason poll, at Limeport Stadium. Then they host Neumann University, who went 32-15 last spring, before taking on Alvernia University, who is receiving votes in the national preseason poll.

The Greyhounds end the season on the road against the 2012 Landmark Conference Champions Drew University on the weekend of April 27th.

The Landmark Conference is set for May 4th – 6th at the highest seed.
