Baseball Picked 2nd in Landmark Preseason Poll

TOWSON, Md. – The Moravian College baseball team was selected to finish second in the conference in the 2013 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll. The Greyhounds received the most first place votes in the poll (three). The poll is voted on by the head coaches of the conference.

Moravian finished 28-16 overall and 14-4 in the conference last spring while falling one game short of the Landmark Championship to Drew University.

The Greyhounds led by seventh year head coach Paul Engelhardt (139-101) returns 19 letter-winners that include five starters.

The Catholic University of America claimed the first spot with 48 points and two first place votes. Moravian follows with 45 points and three first place while The University of Scranton was tabbed at third with 36 points and two first place votes. The United States Merchant Marine Academy was selected fourth with 31 points with Drew following in fifth with 26 points. Susquehanna University and Juniata College round out the bottom of the poll with 18 and 13 points, respectively.

Moravian's season opener is Friday, February 22nd as they take on Rutgers-Camden in the Ty Cobb Classic at Hampden-Sydney College. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
