Five Baseball Players Among National Leaders Again This Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Five student-athletes from the Moravian College baseball team are ranked nationally in the fourth NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2013 season, and the team is ranked in five statistical categories as well.

Sophomore third baseman Ryan Luke leads the team by being ranked in five statistical categories. Luke is tied for second in the nation with five sacrifice flies, and he is tied for 29th with three triples, 33rd in RBIs per game with 1.35 per contest, tied for 50th in RBIs with 23 and tied for 66th in triples per game at 0.18.

Sophomore outfielder Matt Hanson is 41st in doubles per game at 0.50, tied for 29th in triples with three, tied for 37th in doubles with ten and tied for 100th in triples per game with 0.15.

Sophomore shortstop Colin Case is tied for 68th in the country in sacrifice bunts with four while junior outfielder Joseph Connell is tied for 85th with two triples at the plate.

Freshman pitcher Anthony Zaloga is 76th in the country in hits allowed per nine innings at 6.21, and he is tied for 67th in WHIP at 0.90 with just seven walks and 23 hits allowed in 33 1/3 innings. Zaloga is also tied for 70th with two complete games.

As a team, the Greyhounds are 21st in the nation in walks allowed per nine innings at 2.55, tied for 23rd in triples with nine, tied for 45th with 12 sacrifice flies, tied for 45th in triples per game at 0.45 per game, and tied for 50th in doubles with 39.

Moravian, which is 12-9 on the season and 5-4 in Landmark Conference action, is slated to travel to 25th-ranked Haverford College for a non-conference game on Wednesday, April 3rd beginning at 4:00 p.m.
