Five Baseball Players Among National Leaders in NCAA DIII Stats

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Five student-athletes from the Moravian College baseball team are ranked nationally in the third NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2013 season, and the team is ranked in four statistical categories as well.

Sophomore outfielder Matt Hanson leads the team by being ranked in seven statistical categories. Hanson is 37th in doubles per game at 0.53, tied for 20th in triples with three, tied for 23rd in doubles with nine, 81st in slugging percentage at .619, tied for 90th in triples per game with 0.18, tied for 93rd in stolen bases with eight and tied for 98th in hit by pitch with five.

Sophomore third baseman Ryan Luke is tied for second in the nation with five sacrifice flies, and he is tied for 20th with three triples, 33rd in RBIs per game with 1.35 per contest, tied for 25th in RBIs with 23 and tied for 90th in triples per game at 0.18.

Sophomore shortstop Colin Case is tied for 98th in the country in hit by pitch with five and 99th in runs scored per game at 1.06 while junior outfielder Joseph Connell is tied for 64th with two triples at the plate.

Freshman pitcher Anthony Zaloga is 26th in the country in hits allowed per nine innings at 5.27, and he is 58th in WHIP at 0.84 with just seven walks and 16 hits allowed in 21 1/3 innings. Zaloga is also tied for 81st with three victories.

As a team, the Greyhounds are 19th in the nation in walks allowed per nine innings at 2.48, 39th in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 2.55, tied for 24th in triples with eight and tied for 21st with 12 sacrifice flies.

Moravian, which is 10-7 on the season and 4-2 in Landmark Conference action, is slated to travel to Susquehanna University for a three-game Landmark Conference series at Gillespie Field this week with the doubleheader on Friday, March 29th beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Selinsgrove.
