32 Greyhounds Named to Landmark Spring Academic Honor Roll

2013 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll

TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has recognized 294 student-athletes including 32 from Moravian College by selecting them for the 2013 Spring Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions.

The Landmark Academic Honor Roll recognizes all spring student-athletes of sophomore standing or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The student-athletes must complete the spring season in good standing with their team. All eight Landmark Conference institutions placed at least 12 athletes on the Academic Honor Roll and all eight spring Landmark sports were represented on the team.

The Landmark Spring All-Academic Team, which features two male and two female student-athletes from each Landmark institution will be released later this season. In addition, a Senior Scholar Athlete will be chosen for each Landmark sport.

The Landmark Conference is in its sixth season of competition and includes eight institutions covering the mid-Atlantic region. The Landmark crowned eight team championships this spring.

Moravian had student-athletes from six of its spring teams that compete in the conference with the softball team leading the way with nine honorees. The men's outdoor track & field team had eighth members named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll.

The softball team finished its season with a 30-12 record with its 13th straight 30-win season and 19th consecutive postseason appearance. Three seniors made the academic honor roll – Brook Kowal, Alyssa Fegely and Shannen Mohr as well as five juniors – Leann Ventriglia, Cassie Ernst, Eavan Matz, Elizabeth Tillou and Taylor Mihalik and sophomore Lizzie Mack.

The men's outdoor track team captured its six straight Landmark Conference Title, and had eight members named to academic honor roll that included two seniors –Travis King and Jacob Donchez. Juniors Craig Arner and David Cariello and sophomores Dillon Farrell, Mike Hofmann, Parker Munson and Chris Ossont were also named to the academic honor roll.

The women's outdoor track team also won its sixth straight Landmark Conference title, and had six members named to the academic honor roll. Senior Emma Pacheco was joined on the academic honor roll by sophomores Dana Fineman, Jessica Goldberg, Allissa Hoffman, Emily Lambright and Brielle Sutter.

The baseball team captured its second Landmark Conference title in four years, and the 24-17 Greyhounds will begin their trip to the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament on Wednesday, May 15th with a first round game versus Ithaca College in Auburn, New York at 1:15 p.m. The baseball squad had four players make the academic honor roll with juniors Harrison Fonteix, Jason Jamula and Robert Solano and sophomore Justin Pilchman earning the honor.

Three women's tennis players were named to the academic honor roll. All three of them are juniors – Erica Venuti, Olivia Sonnabend and Katie Zien.

Two men's tennis players, senior Brad Kutcha and sophomore Lewis Cooper, earned academic honor roll honors.
