Moravian Drops Contest to Heidelberg at Snowbird Classic

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. --- The Moravian College baseball team dropped a 7-1 decision to Heidelberg (Ohio) University at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Brendon Caraway made the start on the mound for the Greyhounds, allowing six runs on 10 hits and two walks to go with four strikeouts in 5.1 innings. Freshman Kyle Serman tossed 3.2 innings with a run on two hits and a walk to go with two strikeouts.

Heidelberg broke the scoreless tie with six runs in the top of the fifth inning.

The Hounds, who had six hits in the game from six different players, would get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning when junior center fielder Austin Markowski connected on a two-out solo home run, his first homer of the season.

Heidelberg added a run in the top of the ninth for a 7-1 edge.

The Greyhounds will continue their trip to the Snowbird Classic on Wednesday, March 7 when the squad is scheduled to play Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) College at 4:00 p.m. in North Charlotte Regional Park.
