Greyhounds Hold Off Immaculata for Two-Goal Win on John Makuvek Field

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's lacrosse team earned a 12-10 victory over visiting Immaculata University in non-conference action on John Makuvek Field Thursday.

The Greyhounds, now 3-3 on the season, had junior attack James Carroll, junior midfielder Austin Adams and sophomore attack Cade Siddron all score three goals in the contest. Junior midfielder Alec Oriolo had a goal and an assist while junior midfielders Rick Guerra and Dominick Gurreri both netted one goal. Junior attack Mark Laratta and freshman attack Matt Comini each added one assist.

Sophomore goalie MacLean Lincoln made nine saves and had three ground balls while Guerra had a team-high six ground balls after winning 16-of-24 face-offs. Sophomore long stick midfielder Jimmy Schicke also added six ground balls while junior defender John Polich had five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Carroll also scooped up three ground balls in the match.

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter on goals by Siddron, Adams and Carroll while the Mighty Macs had a late goal to cut the Hounds' advantage to 3-1 after 15 minutes of action. Immaculata scored the first two goals of the second quarter to knot the score at 3-3 before Adams scored. The Mighty Macs added two more tallies to take a 5-4 edge. Carroll ripped his second goal of the game into the net with 6.7 seconds left before the intermission as the squads headed to halftime tied at 5-5.

Carroll opened the second half with his final goal while tallies from Siddron and Guerra just nine seconds apart extended Moravian's lead to 8-5. Adams scored with 15 seconds before the end of the period as Moravian had a 9-7 lead after 45 minutes of play. Immaculata closed within a goal three times in the fourth quarter but each time the Blue and Grey scored in the next 46 seconds to push the lead back to two. Guerreri finished the scoring with 5:05 to play.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, March 24 when the squad hosts Neumann University in a non-conference match beginning at 4:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
