Greyhounds Ranked No. 22 in 2016 NFCA Preseason Top 25

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Moravian College softball team has been ranked No. 22 in the 2016 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Preseason Poll.

The Greyhounds under the direction of Head Coach John Byrne, who enters his 23rd season with a 713-221 career record, enter the 2016 season with 14 returners from last year's 38-8 squad that won a Landmark Conference title, an NCAA Regional Championship and played in its first-ever NCAA Super Regional.

"Preseason polls are a starting point for the season and it is nice to be ranked but it really is the ranking at the end of the season that means the most," commented Byrne. "We have a solid nucleus of returning players and six newcomers that will make up the 2016 squad. We are looking forward to getting the season started next month."

Moravian, which was ranked No. 14 in the final NFCA poll of the 2015 season, begins its 2016 campaign at the Spring Games played at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida from March 6-11. The Greyhounds have 10 games scheduled for the week including a contest on March 9 versus Worcester Polytechnic Institute, which received votes in the preseason poll.
