BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The next current student-athlete in Moravian College Department of Athletics & Recreation Get to Know Series is men's tennis student-athlete Justin Szaro '23. Szaro posted a 3-2 singles record during his debut season, and he added two doubles victories.

How did you choose your sport? In high school I was looking for a change in my life. At that time, I was playing baseball, which I wasn't enjoying. My friend was going to try playing tennis, so I decided to join him. I've been in love with tennis ever since.
Why did you come to Moravian College? Moravian College provided a lot of opportunities for me. My sister attended and graduated from Moravian, so I already had a good idea about what the school was like and where buildings were located on campus. I also got into the add-venture program, so I could do multiple majors. Lastly, I was able to get in touch with the tennis staff. Because Moravian checked off everything that was important to me, I chose to come here.
What is your major and how did you choose it? My majors are Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics. I chose these majors because they are very intertwined, so the skills I build are beneficial in all of my courses. I enjoy math, so the majors fit me well.
What are your future plans? I plan on attending Lehigh University to get my master's degree in mechanical engineering. Later in life I hope to become a teacher in my old age.
What is your favorite place on campus? I love the ARC. It's good for tennis and you can do any sport you'd like in there. It's also nice to be able to stay healthy and play tennis during the winter while staying warm.
What activities/organizations at Moravian College have you been active in as a student-athlete? I am involved in the eSports club. I'm a member of the Overwatch team. Additionally, I am the RA of first Bernie and a PASS instructor for CSCI 120.
What is your most memorable moment at Moravian? My most memorable moment was heading to Coffee House every Wednesday. It was a great way to relieve stress in the middle of the week.
Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions? I believe that if you have a poor warm-up on match day you are bound to play poorly. I also make sure to stay active during the day if I have a match in the afternoon.
What advice do you have for prospective student-athletes looking to attend Moravian College? Listen to and take care of your body. Do the hard work now that will keep your body healthy in 20 years. Your future self will thank you for it.
What is the best piece of advice you've been given? "Treat yourself like someone who you are responsible for helping." – Jordan Peterson
Who are your role models/most influential people? I am influenced by my family. I learned how to be persistent and work hard through them.
Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with? Robin Williams, Hozier, and John Mayer.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise most people. Although I am a righty, I swing lefty in golf and baseball.
