Brooke Wehr
Class: 2021
Major: Biology

How did you choose your sport? Ever since I was little, I would always watch my older brother play and be successful in baseball, so I think that had a big influence in my decision to play softball at the age of 5.

Why did you come to Moravian College? I came to Moravian College to first get an astounding education in Biology and second to play softball for a great coach who established a winning and reputable program. Choosing Moravian meant getting the best of both worlds. I had the opportunity to excel in the classroom AND on the field at a very competitive level.

What is your major and how did you choose it? My major is Biology on a pre-med track. Ever since I was little my favorite subject in school was always science. As I grew in school, I quickly became interested in the medical field.

What are your future plans? My future plans are to possibly take a 5th year at Moravian to get my chemistry minor while using my extra year of eligibility to play softball. We have some unfinished business to do. After college, I plan on going to medical school to become a pediatrician, I love helping kids!

What is your favorite place on campus? My favorite place on campus is definitely the performance center! I'm always excited to get a good workout in! If the softball field was considered "on campus" it would probably be my favorite spot.

What activities/organizations at Moravian College have you been active in as a student-athlete? While at Moravian, I take part in playing softball and being a member of the SAAC club.

What is your most memorable moment at Moravian? This is a tough one, as Moravian has provided so many amazing memories! I would have to say the most memorable moment at Moravian was when we (the softball team) won the conference championship in 2018 (my freshman year), proceeded to win regionals and move on to the super regional tournament. We were two games away from going to the world series in Oklahoma City. That goal is a goal that will continue to be a part of our team's agenda.

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions? Usually, the night before a game I carb load by eating fettuccine alfredo and I do this EVERY night before a game (sometimes I get really tired of eating pasta haha). The morning of a game I eat scrapple with syrup and in between our double header games I drink a Gatorade protein shake. Before a game my hair has to be braided a certain way and one of my teammates does my signature eye black with the upside-down triangles colored in.

What advice do you have for prospective student-athletes looking to attend Moravian College? I would say the advice I would give to prospective student-athletes is "What are you doing when nobody's watching?" Are you putting in the work (in the classroom, on the field, in the weight room)? Always give everything your all even when you don't feel like it that day, you never know when something could be taken from you. Most importantly make good choices and be smart about situations!

What is the best piece of advice you've been given? The best piece of advice I've been given is "Speak softly and carry a big stick". I'm a firm believer that actions speak louder than words, so for me it is important to lead by example.

Who are your role models/most influential people? I'd say the most influential people to me are my mom and brother. My mom was the one who taught my brother and I how to be athletes, how to play baseball/softball. My brother always would help me work on softball and has played a part in the type of player I am today.

Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with? I wouldn't mind sharing a meal with my grandpa, any group of kids, or Kris Bryant.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise most people. When I was about 3 years old, I was interviewed and was asked to be an actor on the Disney Channel by a director. Although that was a cool opportunity early on in my life, I am extremely glad I am here at Moravian playing softball and getting an education. I am very happy with where I'm at!
