Landmark Announces Cross Country Award Winners

TOWSON, Md. --- At the conclusion of the 2012 Landmark Conference Championship meet this past Saturday, the conference announced its annual award winners.

Moravian had seven student-athletes and its coaching staff honored by the conference.  Second-year head coach Jesse Baumann and his staff were honored as the Men's Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the Greyhounds to their second straight men's team title.

Sophomore Dillon Farrell (North Wales, Pa./Wissahickon HS) was named the Landmark Conference Male Runner of the Year, and he earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference First Team for a winning time of 26:02.60, which was 43.5 seconds ahead of the runner-up.  Farrell, who was recovering from an injury at the Landmark meet in 2011, earned All-Conference honors for the first time after missing the Second Team by two spots last year.

The men's team had three other runners earn spots on the All-Conference First Team with top seven finishes.  Senior Donnie Noble (Souderton, Pa./Souderton HS) finished in third place in a time of 27:01.70 to earn All-Conference honors for the fourth time , sophomore Alec Duncan (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield HS) was fourth in 27:02.90 to earn All-Conference honors for the second straight season after being sixth in 2011 and earning Landmark Rookie of the Year accolades last fall, and senior Dylan Marton (Somerville, N.J./Somerville HS) finished in fifth place in 27:10.30, earning All-Conference honors for the second consecutive year.

The Moravian women's team had three runners earn Landmark All-Conference Second Team honors.  Sophomore Clarie Del Casale (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's HS) finished 11th with a time of 24:43.20 to earn All-Conference honors for the second time in her career after being on the First Team in 2011.  Junior Jennifer Smilgis (Macungie, Pa./South Brunswick (N.J.) HS) was 12th in 24:58.90 to earn All-Conference accolades for the first time in her career while sophomore Jessie Goldberg (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh HS) finished 14th in a time of 25:12.90 to also earn All-Conference honors for the first time.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Saturday, November 10th at the 2012 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional being hosted by Dickinson College in Carlisle.
