Farrell Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Status

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Sophomore Dillon Farrell (North Wales, Pa./Wissahickon HS) of the Moravian College men's cross country teams has been named to the 2012 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III All-Academic Cross Country Team.

Farrell is one of 162 student-athletes from 85 NCAA Division III institutions to win the award. The USTFCCCA honors Division III individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the cross country. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 through the most recent semester and have placed in the top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships.

Farrell captured the 2012 Landmark Conference individual title with a winning time of 26:02.20 on the 8,000-meter course hosted by Juniata College as he led the Greyhounds to their second straight Landmark Conference team championship. With the victory, Farrell was named the Landmark Conference Male Runner of the Year and earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference First Team. Farrell went on to finish fourth at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional to earn All-Region honors and compete at the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championships at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology last November.

Farrell, who is majoring in nursing, is a three-time member of the Dean's List, and was on the Landmark Conference Fall All-Academic Team and Academic Honor Rolls this past fall. This weekend, Farrell is competing at the 2013 Landmark Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships as Moravian seeks its fifth Landmark title.
