Moravian Falls to #14 Catholic

The nationally-ranked The Catholic University of America posted a 6-0 win over host Moravian College Sunday afternoon in the 2011 Landmark Conference opener for both schools. Greyhounds sophomore goalie Andrea Eck made a career-high 16 saves in the loss.

The Cardinals got on the board when freshman Kim Hermann netted her first goal of the game just four minutes into the contest. Hermann would add her second goal of the game at the 20 minute mark to put Catholic up 2-0.

Herman would get the hat-trick in the beginning of the second half, netting her third goal of the game at the 42 minute mark. Just one minute later the Cardinals would extend their lead to 4-0, with a goal by freshman Colleen Harwood. Catholic would add two more goals with freshman Rebecca Lukaszczyk and senior Tracey Scanlon scoring the last two goals.

Catholic had a 31-4 advantage in shots, and the Cardinals had a 14-6 edge in penalty corners.

The Greyhounds return to action Wednesday, September 28 when they travel to Keystone College for a non-conference game at 4 p.m.

Moravian returns homes Wednesday, October 5 when they host conference foe The University of Scranton. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
