Victor Tavares '21 honored as Landmark Conference Men's Golf Athlete of the Week.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College freshman Victor Tavares has been honored as the Landmark Conference Men's Golf Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Tavares helped the Hounds capture first place in the Moravian Spring Invitational as he was one of the Greyhounds top four players that all finished in the 70s. Moravian had six of the nine golfers on the squad shoot below 80 as the A Team won by 20 strokes with a 298 while the B Team tied for third with a 320. Tavares was tied for second with two-over par rounds of 73 at Southmoore Golf Course, the best round of his collegiate career. He carded four birdies and nine pars. Earlier in the week, Tavares tied for 20th of 80 golfers with a round of 80 at the Stonewall North Golf Course as the Greyhounds finished eighth of 15 teams in the Ursinus College Spring Invitational.

"Victor had another solid week both at Stonewall and Southmoore," noted Head Coach Kevin Edwards. "He was close to getting his first win at Southmoore which isn't going to be his last chance in his college career."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Sunday, April 22 in the opening round of the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Scranton at Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic, Pennsylvania.
