Smith Earns Third Landmark Conference Men's Golf Athlete of the Week Honor

Tyler Smith '18 named Landmark Conference Men's Golf Athlete of the Week for the third time this fall.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior Tyler Smith has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Golf Athlete of the Week for a second consecutive week and third time this fall for his performance last week.

Smith captured the individual victory at the 2017 John Makuvek Cup while lead the Greyhounds to the team title as he birdied on the first playoff hole to take the individual title. Smith and a player from DeSales University each had three-over par rounds of 73 on the par 70 course at the Lehigh Country Club last Thursday and headed back to the first hole where Smith birdied for the victory. Smith's round included one birdie and 13 pars as he shot a 35 on the back nine.

Moravian captured its third tournament win with a score of 302, and the Greyhounds have been in the top two in five of seven outings this fall.

"Tyler has worked very hard to get back this fall after being injured last spring so it is nice to see his hard work pay off with a victory especially the way he won," noted Head Coach Kevin Edwards.

The Greyhounds are completing the fall portion of their 2017-18 schedule this afternoon at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational that is being played at the Bent Creek Country Club in Lancaster.
